Ordered. Thank you Alan.

I fail to figure out how to remove the Bigsby arm. Can you force it up?

I see on YouTube that they just pull the arm up and it comes off the spring set.
When I pull it up, it raises the pitch of the strings just like on the strat.

I am afraid to force it.

Thanks for your help,
Abel

The Bigsby arm is attached by a nut under the housing. The nut is screwed onto the short bolt whose head can be seen on the top surface of the arm and on which it pivots when in use.

You have to de-string the guitar and lift the tailpiece back on its hinge to get at the underside. A small spanner of socket will fit. Undo the nut, remove the arm, locate the new arm in the same place (use a new NyLoc washer if you can find one) and tighten the nut onto the bolt on the underside of the arm.

Got it Jim, Thank you.

I just found this video and it drives you through the process.

I could see the screw using a thin mirror between the guitar body and the bottom of the arm.

You’ll need to take the strings off to get access to the grub screw. There are a few videos on how to change the arm which are very good.
Something to be aware of, you might need to raise the height of the arm to get it to properly clear the strings. You can buy a one inch spring (I think it may be fitted with a 7/8” spring as standard), alternatively you can use a coin (I used a UK 5 pence) to give it additional height.

Thank you Alan,

As I can see, the only place you can add a coin would be beneath the spring or dig a whole on the coin
and put it on top of the spring. Am I right?

Beneath the spring is correct Abel and I put the plastic washer/spacer on top of the spring. Remember, that the angle of the arm might be different from my Chet arm, so you may not need as much adjustment as I did.
Another we tip, put a capo on about the 7th fret to save undoing the strings from the headstock. Simply slacken the strings and remove from the pins at the bridge end, it’s easier to do just in case you need to remove them a few times (as I did) to get the right height.

Alan,

Thare are very helpful tricks, as I usually tend replace the strings.
The problem I never owned or used a capo, but I will get one this time.

Thank you much,
Abel

Wow i love this you had me dancing around the front room to this. Love the style of the guitar as well but one question is the guitar big or are you small as it look huge on you. Great playing btw.
