FLYING CARPET_Spike

Hi Friends

After a long time posting, I just recorded this today:

http://www.4shared.com/file/192088727/17973cdb/flying_Spike_9_01_10.html

No compression was used but I hit the strings a tad harder to get that natural compressed guitar sound.

I used my 1957 Jap Fender resissue with 57/62 pups and into my TVS3 and Laney VC30 with new valves fitted the other day.
The patch was custom made by Paul Rossiter along with all the other superb patches on the TVS3.

This tune is an old Lennard Clerwal tune that the group 1961 made famous.

Hope you like it

Hi Spike,
A very authentic sound and really well played.
I enjoyed this - from a very cold and snowy UK.

Cheers Phil

Excellent Spike - that could just as easily BE 1961 !!
You have the tone off perfectly and that hard strike and attack comes over very well.
Its a smashing track too - If it had been around IN 1961 it would have been an Instro Smash.
cheers

Hi Jim and Ian

Thanks for your time to listen and comment.

Ian:
If Ronnie Gustafson and his group had played that tune when you said, it would most definitely have been a hit.
There are many other Lenny Clerwal tunes in this frame that could also have been hits.

I cant remember when the group "1961" was formed(late 70's early 80's ??) but Ronnie's sound on his Vox Long Tom is a true Shadows vintage sound.

Clerwal has certainly brought out some real "pearlers" and I believe he is still composing.

Cheers

Hi Roger

Thanks for commenting and glad you enjoyed it. I guess it makes abit of a change from the norm.

Hope all you nice chaps are getting by with all this extreme weather you are having in the Northern Hemisphere.
I guess that's been the main topic lately. It must be hard getting around.

Next week it might be OZ again with all its bushfires...strange weather it is.

Brilliant playing and sound Spike, It's not an easy tune to 'get right' and you sure did it!! A good Rocker.
Yes the weather is real bad round here. My estate is in a bit of a dip although we're higher than at the coast and the river Liffey is just down the road. This makes for rather extreme conditions. lastnight 100mm of snow and this afternoon it's turning to ice. Not at all good for driving or even walking!

Anyway, all we can do is wait and play our guitars.

I really enjoyed your music!!
Cheers CC

Thanks Charles

I'm not sure if too many people are familiar with Lenny's compositions but I know you do as suggested by your comments.

Yep...the tune is a challenge but not as chalenging as the weather in your world.

Next week we are expecting hot weather and probably strong winds which will put us all on guard over here in OZ.

Take care and thanks again!
