Don't lose sight that what I'm trying to do here is show that the pickups of ordinary guitars are adequate to do the job.
I have access to Squier Classic Vibe, Tokai (the latest Chinese ones) SX Strats as well as top line Fenders', all of which need to be recorded and compared, through the same amp and echo with the same settings, just to show that silly money will not buy THAT SOUND. My aim is to show that modestly priced gear will get you well inside the ball park, hence my use of the Boss Katana, rather than the Vox AC30/4.
There is a fair bit of 'graunch' Steve and it's often overlooked. I was astounded when I first compared my effort of Midnight to Hank's and immediately wiped it and did it again adding more high mid, but it still falls short of Hank's tone, I know that.
I can't get to my Vox AC30/4 at the moment because it's buried in my studio, but when I do, I'll do these again through that amp, using all the 'attitude' that it has to offer.
The Klemt Echolette doesn't quite work like a Meazzi on the tone side, as it has a preamp with tone controls, where the Meazzi didn't, but it does add some 'grit' to the sound so I will try to keep it flat and let's hear what it used to sound like back in the day.

Incidentally, I look forward to Charlie Hall's new pedal, the EF86 Emulator being released, as I have heard some very impressive demoes this week.
