As CC points out, we are all "guilty" of using original "Hankless" Shadows recordings as backing tracks. There is nothing wrong with that as long as it is not for commercial purposes. So, let's not waste any more time on something that has been discussed and resolved in these forums for the past 10 years and let's concentrate on what this thread is about, and that is Paulo's flawless playing of The Savage.

In my opinion Paulo plays the Savage 100% correctly in terms of fingering and positioning, concentrating the entire middle part on one narrow segment of the neck, which is the most efficient and economic way to play. Not only does Paulo do the the middle part correctly, even though the word "correctly" is relative, but he is the only one I've seen who plays the 0:40 - 0:50 part where I believe it should be played, particularly the 0:46 part, hitting the E note on the 3rd string at the 9th fret plus the open B string, as "Onk" does in the original, which is possible only in that position. Bravo Paulo!!!

I imagine that any reposting of any commercially available backing track - howsoever made - is a contravention of copyright unless there is a specific rider from the supplier to say that it's OK to do so. And even where backing tracks are made available free-to-use, the owners of the song ( as opposed to the performance ) have a claim on you.

Which is why recommend you acknowledge the source of your BT, so you can argue that you are promoting and supporting the supplier... (provided of course that your BT source is not an illicit copy of the original) I'm amazed - and delighted - that Ian McCutcheon continues to create and supply properly licensed BT compilations (http://shadowsworkout.ucoz.com/) and sad that the economics of the commercial world, coupled with widespread piracy have caused Marvin Mastertrax to stop after one issue, and UB Hank releases to dry up...

One more position he pointed out is that at 1'03" it has to be played at the 10th fret with the extension of the forefinger
