My First Electric.

After much searching and trying to remember what model it was, I found a pic of my first electric guitar.
I was only fourteen at the time, and I saved every penny I made as a message boy. I had my boss save all my wages for me and any tips were put into the post office. The postmaster was sick looking at me coming in for savings stamps
Cant find a pound key on this comp so I'll need to type it, but the guitar cost me forty eight pounds ten shillings. I remember it as if it was yesterday.
I'd forgotten how much it looked like a Strat, but this would probably be the reason it jumped out at me in the shop.
I got it in Biggars in Glasgow. It played and sounded great, that tremolo was a massive affair as you can see, it just had one spring under where the arm is connected to the guitar, it eventually gave up on me when the spring snapped. I stayed on an island so the choice of strings was limited and to save a ferry and train journey I got my strings out of a record shop in the town. They were Rotosound flatwounds and pretty heavy, cant remember the guage. And that was me til I discovered Mr Hendrix.Clapton and so on.

Only thing I'm unsure about is the pickup selector switch, I'm sure it was sliders but not as many as the later model shows.
They made so many different models I suppose. Maybe the exact model is'nt in this site, but everything else about the guitar is identical to what mine was.

I know exactly what you mean. My first electric was a Futurama III Deluxe (the "Deluxe" was all important!) I didn't end up selling but exchanged it for a tankful of tropical fish! I must have bought it in around 1964 - on HP of course with my dad as guarantor and I kept it for about 3 years. Can't remember what it cost although 15 guineas rings a bell. Many years later I saw one in an Exchange & Mart shop (remember them?) priced at £135! Here's a pic of thre model I had.

They weren't bad guitars - good necks and nice range of tones, especially the bridge pickup. Happy days!

I remember a couple of guys in bands at the same time as me having Futurama's. They were a popular choice of instrument at the time.

My first electric guitar was an Italian Eko 700 . . . It was a great little guitar and I'll never forgive myself for selling it.

Just dreadful... high action... moving bridge... no jack socket - just a coax socket and the lead kept falling out.

I used to lubricate my fingers with butter... and I added a cheap copy of a Rangemaster tremelo arm from the cheapie shop just round the corner from Chatfields music shop in Hanley S-O-T....

hi, it`s terrible the things you go thru when you`re not very wise & money is tight! my 1st electric was a kay les paul copy in black, & i`ve still got it for some reason? seemed good at the time,but was a pain to keep in tune 1 or 2 of the pots crackeled & the action was horrid. keep thinking i must get it out one day & make a project of it & at least try make it playable,but then again

My first guitar was a Rosetti Lucky Seven,white semi-acoustic electric. Wasn't exactly the best but all I could afford,to be honest couldn't really afford even this. Don't have a picture,don't know if I ever want to see one again, - maybe someone will oblige.
