I suddenly noticed that my ITV news app stopped updating a couple of days ago.
I also noticed it was no longer available on Playstore.
I contacted ITV - to ask if there was an issue - this was the reply:-
-----
Good Afternoon Stuart,
Recently we had a reported issue against the app on certain iOS devices.
Following investigation it seems the requirements for downloading the app has changed since the recent update.
You would need Android 4.4 to view the ITV News website & Android version 7.0 to install the News app.
Unfortunately as you have Android version 6.0 you can't use the app, however you can still view information from the website: https://www.itv.com/news

Considering my wife only purchased her phone just over a year ago this is a bit much to make the phone redundant (if all the apps went that way) so soon.
Probably the ITV people think they only have to cater for the people on contract that have a new phone almost yearly.
A few years ago I purchased a smart TV - looking forward to the BBC stuff coming along. By the time they got it up and running - OH! the tv is not not compatible.
I think this situation which attempts to force people to keep buying new TV's and Phones etc should be looked at. An official investigation of some sort.
