Loved it Spike. Even through my £7.50 speakers the sound was great.

Are you planning any more?

Cheers, Alan.

Lovely job from a player who knows how to play it.

If he hadn't put in the personal touch at approx 2'13", I wouldn't have known it wasn't the record.

Bravo - Iain

Spot on I would say ! Not going to get it much closer than that . All the right gear for the job and Kinman's are proven here.

Hi Paul,

Extremely impressive recording, close as anything to the original as anyone would get, I guess. I can happily confirm the tone and quality of the newest Kinman 'Magnum Opus' 59 pickups - they really do produce the vintage tone - and without the hum. I finally received a set shortly before Christmas and I have been working through many of the early Shadows' numbers with a similar set-up to yourself, only with a Masterbuilt Strat with 11-49 Fender Nickel strings and standard model AC15 amp. I am very pleased and impressed with the outcome even with slightly lighter strings. Will send you some files when I get a chance.

All the best,

Ian

Hi Ian,

Thanks for your kind comments.

The Magnum Opus 69 pickups should be ideal with your hybrid Fender pure nickels and I look forward to the sound files. What life do you think that you will get out of the strings?

Best Regards,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Yes, as I said I very much like the sound I am getting with the set-up including the Magnum Opus 59s and hybrid pure nickels. Obviously the sound is just that bit 'thinner' that it would be with 12-52 Fenders or Nanowebs but it was only my intention to get a pleasing sound and not replicate the original completely. I will let you know what life I get out of the nickels but I am only an occasional player at home so it usually takes a long time before I feel they need changing.

Best regards,

Ian
