Does anyone know if Brian Bennett's book Chasing Shadows is available?

Apparently, there's still no release date as yet...

I remember reading there was a final chapter to finish.

I hope it includes a performance at the Platinum Jubilee concert :)

Here’s hoping.

Brian's 82 in a couple of days... I think he started writing the book when he was about 70. I can't see it ever being finished, if I am being honest. The music journalist Chris Welch was originally working on it with him, but he was 'let go' for unspecified reasons. I think Brian started out with the best of intentions, but I think he's got distracted by other things too many times along the way. I think if he really wanted to get the book finished, then it would have been finished by now. As I say, and with the utmost respect, I really cannot see it ever getting finished. There is a huge danger in leaving things too long. It would be a great book to read... but I don't think we should hold our breath waiting for it.

I was gutted when I discovered the title of the book was to be 'Chasing Shadows'. That was supposed to be the name of my autobiography (the one no-one would ever read because I'm not that interesting and I can't tell a story to save my life!). Brian has never chased Shadows in his life; he is a Shadow. I've been chasing Shadows since I was eight years old. Gerroff my book title!

Leo’s Den has checked with Brian. Don’t despair, he is keen to finish the book but is doing a rewrite! Other stuff has also got in the way but one day it will happen :)

Hope this helps - Iain

That's good news. I thought it was something that had been out and had gone and that I had missed it.

It appears that Leo's Den may have updated the page since my initial post. Mention of a rewrite would certainly explain the lengthy and ongoing delay in the book's publication.

I just hope he finishes it as he isn't getting any younger. It would be fantastic read and i would most certainly buy it. Wish Hank would write his story as he must have a few tales to tell but doesn't look likely as he's been asked but has turned down any offers.
