Hi all,

I hope you are all doing well.
I don't think I posted this one before. It's not Shadows or Ventures, but it's a nice tune composed by Bireli Lagrene.
I recorded it about a year an a half ago I think.
The background is from a Youtube video hence the bad sound.

"MADE IN FRANCE"

I used my YAMAHA acoustic electric and my Fender Hot Rod Deville.
Not the best take, but I hope you like it.

Blessings,
Abel

Your skill on the guitar comes shining through Abel and I enjoyed watching it.

I am not fond of this style of music but seeing your playing more than made up for it. :)

Good morning all,

Glad you liked it Roger. I probably should redo it with my Yamaha acoustic only.
I followed your link and was greatly impressed and delighted by what I heard.
Your backing tracks and your own playing are just superb, not to mention your sound; what a pleasure
it must be to play with a sound like yours. In a way, I am happy I can't have it, I would be missing
lots of workdays.
I was excited to see your Swing Backing, thinking they were swing era tunes, but the wonderful vintage tunes
you cover made up for it.
I will redo my "Mary Lou" using the superb backing that I got from you.

Blessings to all,
Abel

Not Shadows' stuff at all, but great playing. It's not an easy thing to do than playing Bireli Lagrene's music. He is one of the most brillant current Gippsy guitar player !

Hello Abel, as usual, your playing is extraordinary, but it lacks the side singing strings Manouche style.
But bravo for your dexterity on a guitar neck is exceptional.

Hi all,
Glad you found it interesting.
I still have alot to learn Gege', and you are right, I don't listen to Gypsy music often at all and that's why I
don't really play like the Manouches, but in my own style. I should listen and learn a few Gypsy tips like bending
the strings and vibrating them. I need to spend a week or 2 in Paris going from place to place, but I know I am going
to enjoy it more than I would learn.

Blessings,

Hi Abel,

Very good playing there Abel. I haven't heard much of Bireli Lagrene's playing but it certainly reminds me of Django Reinhardt's gypsy style. I certainly have admired the playing of the latter. How do they and you play so quickly without stumbling. I guess it comes down to technique and lots of hard work. Or maybe it's just pure talent. I enjoyed listening to that and watching those fingers fly.

Cheers,
Len

And you have to start early. Look at Bireli Lagrene when he was 16 (in 1982) :

Incredible !
A complete mastery of the guitar. I think I saw a video of him at an even younger age, around 12.
He is one of the most gifted of all the Gypsy players and has even incorporated other styles like Jazz and Blues ...
into his already top Gypsy style.
Thank you Didier, I didn't see this one before.

Blessings,

He uses to say that he is not a Gipsy guitar player, but a Jazz guitar player...
He won a Gispsy guitar contest in Strasbourg at 12, an started to tour in Germany at 13...
