Is anyone going to write a honest report , rather than relying on the 'off the cuff' remarks? :lol:

Hi all,

After the show Phil was talking about his sound, he put it down to using his
standby AC30/4 chassis in a cabinet with Audiom 60's and also the radio
transmitter he was using!

Justin used a wireless setup on one guitar, and for anyone who may have seen
it an Echomatic that I brought down with me was running under the stand
in case of any Meazzi problems. I also had two sets of spare valves and a selection
of tools with me, including a soldering iron!

Having been involved in the two gear changeovers involving The Shadowers, I got
a better appreciation of the hard work Bruce puts in behind the scenes - Thank you
Bruce!!

The Hankies present made themselves heard with shouts of "Malcolm" when Justin
was announced, and what a treat to see Jet on stage again after his own "Annus Horribililis"

My New Build AC15 came down as a spare "Justin Case" and was seen by people present.

I've never seen so many Meazzi Echomatics in one place, 5, I think! and also a look at my
first "Long Tom" (Good Job it wasn't named after Dick Denney!) newly restored by
Roger Allcock.

Finally seeing Charlie Hall and Justin talking about Meazzis until I left them at 2-15 am
has got me worried, I'm dreading a phone call from Justin asking for more "Tweaks". :shock:

The only thing missing was "Shall we do it again next year", when I asked Bruce after
the show he said "Who Knows!"

Sorry Dave, to do it justice would need a complete website!!

Hi Walt,
I used a Sony SR12 video camera with a High quality Mike. It's a Hard disc Video with 120 Gig hard drive.
In the High Definition mode it saves files in AVCDH format which appear as .MTS files.
For these videos I didn't do any editing at all - Just straight onto Youtube.
Very easy to download to the computer via USB and since Windows 7 you can play the videos direct in Windows media Player.
No need anymore to use Sony's software.

Fred - You probably have worked it out - The Lead guitarist is Phil Kelly, He's been in Bruce's band for a long time .

I've only seen the videos - wonderful by the way, but his guitar does sound slightly different. Does anyone have a recording done with a stereo mic perhaps?


I don't usually comment on here about guitar tones on live performances or video recordings, but I'll make an exception on this topic this once. When Phil Kelly was using the red m/n Stratocaster with which he opened the "Bruce's Shadows" set, his sound was the modern, compressed, sort-of-Hank-live-in-the-nineties sound. But when he switched to a sunburst Strat with rosewood neck, the change was very noticeable: more dynamic, more twangy, in sort, more like the early Shadows. Why that would be, I don't know. I understand that both guitars were played through identical radio systems. Pickups? Perhaps...

A great weekend of music, thanks once again to Bruce for putting on Shadowmania.
