Years ago I was the sound engineer for a Queen tribute band called Killer Queen when it was fronted by Scott Marley (who had met Freddie and received a lot of help from him). During setup of the gig Scott was himself and as helpful as anyone else with all the things you have to do. Then, for an hour before the show he would disappear into his dressing room and transform himself. Throughout the show he was Freddie, he spoke like him and behaved like him (including during the interval) until after the show when he changed back into normal clothes and emerged from his dressing room as himself once again. When he went to greet the audience afterwards he was Scott, not Freddie.

That, I consider an admirable talent and exactly what is required from the job, no more and no less.

I attended the show at Zaandam about 10 days ago and, in my view, if one wants to experience today how it was (and sounded like) an early Cliff& Shadows show, I doubt it can get better than this. Whether Jimmy matches perfectly Cliff's voice or not for me is pointless. Cliff himself doesn't sound like he did 50 years ago. Similarly, in the tour last year (at least on the DVD) one could notice that Hank's guitar tone today, even when playing early hits, is not the same that we hear on the original recordings, though it sounds equally superb. It's just different.

I would also like to highlight Colin's performance, absolutely brilliant. We are privileged that he has devoted his gift of music to play our music.

Well said Ramon.

I've seen the Rapiers a few times now, and really enjoyed each show.

I've also been lucky enough to see Cliff, and The Shadows many times over the years.

So what if Jimmy wants to carry on sounding like Cliff after the show, thats up to him.

To see people fly the Cliff/Shads flag is really good, why do people have to knock these tribute bands, you have a choice, you don't have to go to the show, I can't see what harm they are doing to Cliff/Shads, so why do some people have to knock them?

I'll get off my peddle stool now, or is it a wooden chair?!
