Burns Legend deluxe Japanese??????

Postby Jontie » 14 Nov 2010, 22:50

Hi Everyone,
First let me say "Hello". I was an early member of "Shadowmusic" but, over the years, I've lost a bit of enthusiasm. The last time i tried to log in I was diverted to the "Berkshire Shadowmusic Club" and made a couple of posts but haven't been on for a while.

As a result of changing my computer, i put a search in and "Behold" here you are with all the old names....Old Derek,Ecca,Cockroach etc.it goes on and on.

Anyway, the reason i've posted...... I have a Legend Custom Deluxe, which as you know was only done in Fiesta Red. I'm thinking of selling it along with my Q20
(I'm now into photography and need to finance some "L" glass). I checked on Ebay and was staggered to see a white Japanese version for a great deal of money.

So.. whats the story on these? Has Barry moved to Japan??? Does anyone know anything about them??

Regards
John

Hey!! Welcome back!

There seems to be considerable confusion regarding reissue "Marvins"... to my knowledge there are no Japanese "Marvins" only the Chinese crossbreds which have had components made in both Japan and Korea in their time, all mounted on Chinese woodwork. I suspect that for the current machines most of it is Chinese - and none the worse for that.

"Legends" were assembled in England by Barry, with the very early ones the product of his own fair hand before he farmed out body and neck production and finishing to at least two other small UK operations...

Unless I have missed something, it is not claimed to be a Japanese made instrument, just a Japanese seller.

All the best,

Nick

The Q20 has greatly devalued while you've been away John.
It's not worth that much at all.
I'll take it off your hands for.......erm........ £5.
How's that sound ?

Ecca's having you on John. The Q20 is worth at least £20. In fact, I would give you £25 cash-in-hand right now
