Rosemary, a number of guitarists I hear at our local Shadows guitar club would be pleased to play as well as that!!

Hi Rosemary.

The "Malcolm" ovation is a bit like getting a 2nd Dan belt. The lower grades are almost defunct now as most Hankies have been awarded a "Malcolm" at some time or other. The ultimate grade - the black belt, the first Dan, is an "Eric". Only true masters ever get to achieve this level. Most people don't bother as it entails a strange ceremony where you bare your knees whilst playing a strange version of Flingle Bunt.

Phil
(ex-guitar player) - now a ukulele and ukulele bass player!
Update: After 10 years absence, now a born-again Hankie

I must have missed these messages somehow so sorry for the delay in replying.

Walt: I'm using 10s now. The Strat had 9s originally and I had them changed. The Mexican Strat also has 10s. On my 'to do' list for next year is to learn how to change the Strat strings. I can manage the acoustic string changes (although not the neatest job) so should be able to change Strat strings ... hopefully.

Jim and Ray: Thanks for your encouragement. I've recently bought a G2.1Nu and Charlie's patches so am getting much better tones now which makes me want to practise more (except it's a busy time of the year so I'm not getting as much time as I'd like).

Phil: Thanks for the explanation of the secret codes

Ecca: I get the feeling there's something I still don't know :)

P.S. Please don't hold the cricket scores against me. :)

Best wishes
Rosemary

Hi Ian and Ecca
Now you really have me intrigued!
btw I changed my avatar because I looked worried in the original photo when I first got my Strat (and I was!)
This afternoon was spent on more palm muting practice. Improving slowly I think. :)
best wishes
