THIS GUY HAS GOT IT

Postby KurtFroberg » 28 Nov 2010, 17:17

Hi

Just recently I found this guy Robby from Australia. He seems to be younger than most of us, but he has really got that sound and technique. There seem to be five uploads so far. All of them are worth listening to. I don´t know if he is already a member here.

You're right, Kurt.
Sound, playing technics, timing, really the vintage sound that I - and a lot amongst us - like to hear every day!

Nice playing and a great sound, with very skilled use of the DeArmond 610 on The Storm...

Robby (or Robbie) , is an old member here. He played an astonishing version of Apache when Dave Robinson and Pete Korving wrote that loooong thread in the msn site trying to get that elusive sound. Since then I try to listen to all the things played by him.

That must be the same Robbie or Robby who played the best "Big Boy" I have ever heard. Totally THAT SOUND !! If he is the same guy, then he was a member of our community.
The difference between Robby and Robbie was that one was his user name and the other was his signed name.

The Storm sounds great, even on my laptop's weedy little speakers!

Really interesting. Sometime ago David Martin suggested to just use the side sweep of the 610 pedal. This action is precisely what Robbie does in The Storm video. And it sounds good to me.

I agree that's it , THE fabulous vintage tone ! Although I could see the Vox Longtom, I would be interested to know what he was actually playing though.

WOW! WoW! :o

It is a great honor to be mentioned on this site especially by a caliber player like Kurt Froberg of The Ryders who I am a fan of! Thanks so much Kurt! :D

Thanks so much everyone for having the time to watch the videos. It is very much appreciated. Through the years, I have been having lots of fun playing, recording, now videoing guitar music. That's what I am here for to have fun :D

Hi Pancho and Bojan,

Yes I have been a member of this community since 1999 and through the years have been getting suggestions and advices by great players from this community.
My user name was Robbie but I signed my name as Robbie, that's right Bojan ;) Thanks for remembering those and the 'Apache' and the 'Big Boy'. I appreciated that so much.

Hi Dave,

Thanks so much for watching! I use the Long Tom, through a Vox Tonelab (Amp Simulator). I still own the ESE Echomatic VI which sometime I use it along side with the Long Tom, I mean use them both at the same time. The Long Tom was restored and modified by Paul Rossiter of TVS here in Australia.

Thanks so much!

Regards,

Robby
