any ideas?

Jonathan, read this: http://www.thegaragedoor.com/setup/setup.html

Pay attention to this sentence: GarageBand does not accept VST instruments and effects, but a converter is available from Fxpansion . . .

So, what you need is a VST Audio Unit Adapter, and you can find it here: http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=5&tab=22

Good luck !!

Don't want to cast a negative but that website you have found also states these points in the FAQs

Which versions of OS X is the VST to AU Adapter compatible with?
[top]

10.3.9 "Panther" and 10.4.x "Tiger" versions.

Most of us are at least running 10.5 leopard or 10.6 Snow Leopard and they also state:

Are there any currently known compatibility issues? [top]

Mac OSX 10.5.x:

- Adapter preferences are not saved correctly - the adapter still functions however and wrapped plugins can still be used.

- The buttons for loading and saving VST presets underneath the plugin interface are blanked out. The buttons do work, but they aren't visible.

Logic 8 & GarageBand 4:

- Whilst wrapped plugins will work fine in these hosts, the user interface will not move around the screen correctly when the plugin window is moved.

Mac & Windows

- VST2.4 (or above) plugins are NOT supported. They may work in some cases but they are not officially supported.

However although I have not tried this option below with VSTs an Apple Mac or even a Windows user could use this free alternative http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/index.

Hi All

I have an Apple iMac with both Logic Pro 9 and Cubase 4 Studio, interestingly, Cubase does recognise this without a wrapper?
