Sorry Pedro
It might be humorous to some but I don't think that is in good taste!

That's OK Ian. No need to apologise.

I wasn't apologising for anything, WIlliam. I was simply stating that I think your comment unacceptable.
I just wonder if you would have got away with it if you had taken the mickey out of any of the other "ethnic religions" or if this had been a "Moderated" Board.
However, more and more I'm realising that this sort of 'needle' is now commonplace here and I find that indescribably sad for the ShadowMusic Forum. :(

Ian I saw the posting yesterday by Pedro and spoke with Bob about it, I was not happy with it, it's too personal about a member of The Shadows, but if your a regular reader here you will see that Pedro always has a edge to his postings, the kind of edge that is not wanted here, I think within the next few weeks we will see a few members gone from these boards, our membership is at a all time high and we don't want shite postings or members anymore, people forget that this is seen across the world and is read by The Shadows and thier management, it's in our own interest to keep this a pleasant and enjoyable place to for everyone to visit......... :D

This thread is about Jet's Funeral.
Can we resist the urge to have the spotlight taken away from him once again, and concentrate on the topic in the title please?

As the one who took his bat and ball in over inappropriate remarks on this thread and by so doing it Shanghai'd it into something it isnt - can I suggest that Posts 33 onwards now be deleted so we can get on with our Respect for Jet, our utter sadness at his Passing and the information on his Funeral.
Thanks

Hello Everyone,
I've been away from the board for a couple of days. I would like to thank people who have kindly contacted me with additional information about attendees etc. As I tried to explain at the outset - I do apologise if I missed anyone. I wasn't making notes. Equally, there were others who hadn't seen some of the people who I had seen there. So...a few more additions - singer Keith West (so helpful to Barry Gibson), Steve Terrell (whose superb photographs and assistance at Shadowmanias etc has always been first class), John from Leo's Den (well....need I say more about what Pat & John have done for the Shads & Jet down the years & all Shads fans worldwide) and legendary guitarist Big Jim Sullivan (of Wildcats, Krew Kats and so much more fame). Could I also just add that several people were naturally more than willing to give up their seats for Bruce.....but he wouldn't have it. I'm so glad that he continues to recover well...but he seemed determined (& happy enough) to stand exactly where he was. Further: if anyone wishes to use anything that I have written - anywhere, in any way, shape or form....then please feel free to do so. I am so grateful to members who have offered to translate things into different languages and then post them on appropriate websites so that non - English speaking fans can be informed. My personal thanks to you all and my sincere apologies to anyone who I knew who I inadvertently missed off my various lists. But....the main thing was just to try and let people know how the ceremony went. As other people have mentioned, I believe that Cliff had genuine commitments in the USA. But....the bottom line...it was a moving and fitting farewell for Jet...our undisputed Shads King of the bass guitar.

Bests....Rob :D

And that is exactly what you have done, Rob.No one could have done it better.

D'oh! My last post on this aspect. I've just been reading Shadowmusic's own "People" section. I'd heard that Amanda Hambidge was amongst the throng in the whole overcrowded and emotional scene. But......our very own Shadowmusic founder David Martin was there too!!! Sorry David. I didn't see you myself & in my list of 'omissions' - no - one tipped me off. Well, folks, as you've seen from the "People" section, you all know that David is a true gentleman. Not rocking the boat, not sounding his own trumpet (or Burns). Content to stay quietly in the background and then just as quietly 'melt away'. Really, without the Internet & without Shadowmusic - our own lives / paths would never have been so enriched down the years. Our Shadowmusic web community is the sum of all its members. A special place. So many, many thanks to David. Jet was honoured by the important musicians in his life as well as family, friends and dedicated fans. If the sevice had been held (purely hypothetical) at somewhere like Winchester Cathedral then the thousands of fans who wanted to be there could have been. Meanwhile.....watch these boards for news of potential Jet Harris Memorial events - when fans and musicians will be able to honour Jet in their own way. I know that many local clubs are paying their own tributes to Jet in meetings. That is a wonderful thought...of all of these guitarists and drummers throughout the land playing Shads, Jet, Jet & Tony tracks in honour of our hero. Absolutely perfect. Jet's memory really will live on through the music.

Bests.....Rob :D

Hi Rob

Many thanks for the updates I and many others will/and have found your words very comforting to know everything went as planned. A truly fine send off for the king of bass.
God bless Jet.

Once again many thanks and all the best Rob
