The Savage (again)

Postby 5tratocaster » 22 Jun 2011, 00:04

I know it's been done before - dozens of times - but I so enjoy playing this.
I've tried to get the sound as close to the original as possible, although my guitar doesn't quite have the bell-like tone I'm looking for.
This is played on a USA Vintage '62 Reissue with stock American Vintage pickups, via a Magicstomp and a Cutting Edge filter straight into my mixer which has just a little treble taken off, then into the Line input on my PC and recorded with Adobe Audition.

The backing track is the original with Hank removed using a Jamvox.
Hope you all enjoy it.
Cheers,
Geoff

Very good sound indeed, does the jamvox work with all the shads songs?

Good stuff... but.......
Whenever Hank's guitar is removed his spirit remains.
I can still hear his echoes and traces of him.
I'm happier to hear these things done with a non-shad BT.
Well played though,
Ecca.

Actually, I've just realised that the BT wasn't created using a Jamvox, but was recorded using a piece of free software called Best Practice, downloadable from Sourceforge.
I used the same software to slow down the middle bit to learn it.
Ecca's right to a certain extent. Without my playing you can just hear Hank in the background at certain parts, but it's not audible over my guitar sound for most of the track.
Thanks for all the encouragement by the way.

Hi Neil,

You can find that software here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/bestpractice/

I use it quite a lot for picking out tricky notes in fast passages.
