SHE video from Notting Hill

Postby Phil McGarrick » 02 Jul 2011, 21:05

I watched the brilliant film “Notting Hill” on TV a couple of weeks ago and realised I have already
recorded 2 of the songs from the film. “Ain’t no Sunshine” & “When you say nothing at all”

At the end of the film there is another great song “She” sung by Elvis Costello.
As I was listening I thought that would make a great instrumental if I could get
the same backing track.

Did a lot of searching for a good BT and then found the best one on youtube free
Under the heading “She Karaoke Elvis Costello”
Very grateful to hermannsegundo for sharing his great BT.

So downloaded it and kept playing along with it until I came up with a version I could remember and repeat.
Ecca did his own fantastic version approx 18 months ago with video which must have been somewhere in my subliminal.

When it came to the video I did a live take by the computer and I thought why not include a few clips
Of my granddaughter Emily again as she has recently started walking. (into everything now)

Used Aleses Q2 with EFTP patch 0-36 and Neck pickup on the strat straight into soundcard of computer and cubase SX5.

Hope you like my version of “SHE”

Cheers Phil

Great stuff Phil. Love the soft tone, it really suits the backing track, easy on the ear 8-)
You never fail to impress mate ;)

Still using the gay lead I see

Hi Hugh,
I thought as soon as I watched the video - oops there's that pink lead again.
Many thanks for your comment.

Excellent job Phil.
This must rate as one of my all time favourite songs, I loved it from first listening to Charles Aznavour.
I have to say I don't like Elvis Costello's version and, in fact I don't like him at all. It's most probably for having the audacity
to take the name 'Elvis'.
I heard Charles Aznavour sing this in French on an advert here and I just had to get it. I went to enormous trouble and actually joined his fan club
to find out what it was called.
It's called Les Visages d'amour and I bought his CD with it on.
Great stuff Phil and thanks for harking back to my version.Cheers

That and the fact that he married the love of my life 'Diana Krall' and instantly ruined her music career by getting her to play his garbage instead of her own music

Hi Phil
After a beautiful day, a beautiful sound file!!
It took a moment or two to realise that it was NOT on Marvin At The Movies or any other Hank album - its a PMcG Original !!
Boy, does that have the HBM touch and sound or what?! Wonderful.
Loved it loads!
Could equally apply to our tiny Chloe as to your Emily - and goodness knows what we Grandparents are going to have next - in two weeks!
Marvellous!
cheers
