I'm struggling to understand why some thought that it had anything to do with Charlie Hall's new project.
It seems that the general thought is that nobody else has the intelligence to get anywhere near the sound around here. I believe a re-think is needed.
I used my ESE Echomatic as the guide for my echo spacings, which I actually believe to be as close as it gets, I didn't compare with EFTP spacings until after I was satisfied with the results, naturally the spacings are in the same ball park.
I have owned the Alesis Q2, Quadraverb GT, Zoom RFX2000, RFX2200, G71ut and the Yamaha Magicstomp, all with EFTP programmes and for me only the GT and Magicstomp give somewhere close to the correct guitar sound, the others may as well go in the bin if what you is seeking, is a true vintage electric guitar tone. That said, none of those come close to the ESE Echomatic straight through the Vox (or similar) amp. However, the Logic/MainStage programme does, if you know what to do with it, as have tried to illustrate with these tracks.
I may get some flack for saying this, though some may be brave enough to admit I'm right, but in the last ten years I/we have spent heavily in the belief that we were being guided the right way with the kit that has been on offer and used by Hank. It turns out that by his own admission, he isn't bothered about the old sound, which is apparent when listening to and watching him over the last few years. He is a great player and I love him to bits, but as a player myself I don't want to sound like the new Hank. We've had the all the echo machines, Kinman pickups, silly tremolo arm, and various amps thrown at us, only to find that our original kit that I chose to go back to did it better and REAL - it has to be what it is !
Robbie thanks for your kind words, I am not surprised that you have this kit already, it is reflected in your own fabulous sound.
