Tolo - 'Turn around and touch me'

Postby tolo » 24 Aug 2011, 17:02

Hello friends,

So here it is - building my album and someone suggests that I do a cover of a Shadows track in my 'style'... Its not like me to record a cover version but I thought that actually it was a good idea and wanted to pick something not obvious or typical and try to do it my way but keeping the heritage and feeling of the way Hank beautifully plays this melody...

I hope you don't feel that it is in anyway meant to compete with this lovely original track - its just my own version and is a tribute to the mastery of HBM on this track...

I hope you enjoy my humble offering...

Best to all,

Tony.

Excellent! A superb tribute to the original but with individual interpretation consistent with the high standard of work you always produce, Tony.

Hi Tony - It's a beautiful song, one we used to play in our band days - I think you need 22 frets to play it the Shadows way.
Love your take of this song - It's really brought it up to date, very dramatic, super sounds and fantastic programming - definitely a saver to add to the rest. Glad you're including this one in your CD.
Hope to meet up at Shadowmania on 17th.
All the best.. Phil

Guys - thanks a million...

Wasn't happy with the mix though - been working at it tonight and much happier with this one. Also - new ending (which I wasn't really comfortable with)... Let me know what you think... the old file has gone! Link back at the top...

Phil - I will be there on the night, I really look forward to meeting you...

Best

Tony.

Hi Tony
listening here on a manky little pair of Dell flipflop speakers it sounds damned fine!!
I must get it DLd when I get home in 10 days time and enjoy the dynamics on my studio monitors!! (At least you've given me something to go back to Wolverhampton for !! lol !!)
Superb job, Tony - loved it to bits. I always thought the available BTS for TAATM were a bit sterile. Not any more !!
Brill!!
cheers
Ian
ps - I like the quieted ending - didnt hear the original one.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and feedback! Yes.....22 frets. Unfortunately the way this track was built I didn't find this out until the point of no return had come - so I 'arranged' the high note out with a harmony!! It seemed a better solution than having to buy a new neck or start over in E! Anyway - I it doesn't detract too much...

Best to all, hope to see you on the 17th!
