In recent times I have been in touch with EMI about similar releases to this one as well as a potential celebratory reissue of "The Shadows" (as it was the 50th anniversary of the FIRST LP by a BRITISH GROUP to TOP the LP CHARTS - surely an occasion to celebrate / acknowledge????) - possibly with bonus material.
In short....they were not interested in the slightest - basically saying that it wouldn't be financially worth their while to consider any such releases and they suggested that there weren't many Shadows around nowadays & those that were wouldn't be interested!! I did point out to them the existence of the Shadow Music site....the many, many Shadows Clubs and WORLDWIDE interest - not to mention the phenomenal attendances during the Shadows' own Farewell Tours and the Cliff / Shadows Final Tour - but...they still weren't interested. Shortly after this (& I just use it as an example) - they put out a 6 - CD set of everything recorded by Adam Faith at EMI. I don't recall the exact stats....but it was c. 160 tracks - all remastered, first - time stereo releases, previously unissued tracks, first time on CD tracks etc., etc. Now......no disrespect to Adam Faith....but compared to the Shadows, his following nowadays must be fairly insignificant. The fact is.....EMI banged on to me...how putting out Shadows product (similar to "As Good As It Gets...") would be not worth their while. Yet.....a 6 CD set (as described) by Adam Faith apparently is!!!! It defies logic. So, believe me.....I've tried several times during the past couple of years to get some different / decent Shadows product out there....all to no avail.
