I'm pleased that you are enjoying comparing, when these were recorded there was no deliberate effort to replicate Hank, each of us played the way we learned it from the record and they were single 'takes'. I have had just as satisfactory results recording the same track (and others) playing directly into the Macbook/Logic and it is so simple that I'm annoyed with myself for not realising this technology was within my grasp as long ago as 2007 when I bought my first Mac and the Logic software. I put the Logic software on the back-burner as it appeared complicated at first, but last year it became clear after a 'one to one' session at the Apple store and I discovered that I had every amplifier in any combination of power & speaker configuration, as well as every tape/drum echo machine imaginable and every other effect know to the guitarist - all on the computer. I love it ! :D

I have just recorded this version of 'The Savage' sat comfortably by the fireside, using only the sounds in the Macbook Pro with Logic software.
Fender Eric Johnson Strat through the Apogee One interface into the Macbook Pro.
Can anyone hear the difference between the computer's virtual amp and echo or the real thing on my other tracks?

Hi Dave,
All due respect (& much of it), the Mac version sounds drowned in echo & not as realistic in general as the other 2 sound-files, in fact sounds like you was sat at the side of the fire playing in to a laptop :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D.(Watch out for the Carbon Monoxide fumes  )
Joking aside don't sell the Quad.
Much Respect

Hi Dave,
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you busy day Friday's & ~I've only had a spare few minutes to have a listen.
Yes I believe I can hear the difference between the Macbook 1 & 2 track's. The last track does sound better with less echo applied ;) .
The TVS3 & the quad track's have a certain something that the last 2 track's lack. Maybe when I've had more time to assess it I may be able to quantify what ever that certain something is. Although I am just nitpicking, at the end of the day, it only matters which you prefer. :D but you did ask.
Best Regards
John
