New computer question

Postby alanbakewell » 19 May 2012, 13:57

Until recently I have run the Windows Vista system on an old computer.

I have recently purchased a new computer running Windows 7.

I'm on Sky Broadband. Other than my geographically disadvantaged location, ( low broadband speed ). I've always
been o.k. based on the fact that my immediate neighbours who are with many and varied companies are in the same boat.

Although I have my Sky e-mail facility, I've always used Windows Mail. Which in turn was a variation on Outlook Express.

I no longer have this option and now have Windows Live Mail.

Can I make this work? Can I Bu........No!

My friends, will anybody who has made this transition from Vista to Windows 7 please advise me on how to set this up?

Yes I have googled it and no it still don't work.

Cheers, Alan.

I just tested this myself, and had no problems:

Configuring Windows Live Mail for Sky mail

I personally ise IMAP as I can then access my mail on my mobile devices (smartphone / tablet) too.

I have used Gmail for a couple of years. It is free. You can access your emails from anywhere and the spam filter is excellent.

Thanks guys. I want to keep my e-mail address i.e. alanbakewellATsky.com ( replacing etc. etc. )

I don't want alanbakewell@badgersbottom.co.uk or anything else.

My old system let me do that.

( Apologies if there actually is an Alan Bakewell @ Badgers Bottom ).

Love, Alan.
