Absolutely Jim. It's the rarity which makes them a good investment, but only if you kept them! After paying a small fortune for kit in the 1960s - often far more than you would pay today - people would give it up and sell it for peanuts. The same goes for many things. I kept my Norton Dominator, which I bought in 1965 secondhand for £49-10s. That's about £790 in today's value and it could be now worth 10 x that! Not quite valid in my case as I'm spending a fortune rebuilding and restoring it, but the principle still applies! I've more recently bought another Norton but this one's a runner and was cheap!

You often hear people say "I wish I'd kept that!" - including me! If we all kept those things we bought in the 1950s, 60s and 70s they wouldn't have the rarity value now.
