Happy New Year everyone!!!
This is something I made quickly for my sister who needed a classical filler piece for a Production she was doing.
I chose Dvorak's “LARGO”, from New World Symphony a piece that I love but as it couldn't be longer than 3 minutes, doing the FULL version wasn't a possibility.
So, here is my cut-down 2mins 50 secs version of “Largo”
I am indebted to Andy McGarrick for helping me out so selflessly when I was completely stuck on some of the subtle chords and grace notes needed for the backing track which is all Band In A Box (and an old version at that!). Many thanks Andy.
One fine day, I'll record the whole piece, including the key change variation and the big brass orchestration to boot.

Thanks for listening and the kind comment.
Funny thing is-on my original mixdown for her the Strat was a good 3dB up but she did a Stan Freberg on me and said "Its too loud, man. Too loud!"
It was meant to be a scene change infill for her show, and not be something to focus on, so I had to back the guitar off a bit.
So it turned out a bit of a WYHIWYG.
Yes, I'm sure that divorced Jack liked Hovis. 1973 advert filmed on Gold Hill, Shaftesbury. I wonder what the boy on the bike is doing now?

KeithyBaby - Ah yes, the Hovis ads prior to then I think featured the wonderful dialect voiceover of Joe Gladwin (a Manchester lad, of course) who "had RRRReal butter fer Tea." He later went on to play the part of Joe, Norah Batty's poor downtrodden husband for many years.
Ecca - It was not the Largo, it was a white Zinfandel, which by some strange reason is PINK, or at least it was last night. I soon got a Handel on it and quickly changed the Post to Dvorak - which I knew all the time of course. Ahem!

Joe Gladwin played the part of WALLY Batty, you wally!
I had the pleasure of driving him from his home in Cheetham Hill, to Holmfirth once, where he was filming with Thora Hird, for a Sunday show she did at the time. Joe had just been appointed a Papal Knight for his service to the Roman Catholic Church.
When we returned, his wife had laid on a magnificent afternoon tea, with home made cakes and sandwiches (some made with Hovis!)
Some months later, I drove him to London, where he was to film some interior shots for a Last Of The Summer Wine Christmas special. Unfortunately, he was too ill to work, and returned home the following day, and only a short time later he passed away. A wonderful man who never left his roots. He and his wife had lived in the same house for many years.

Beautiful playing and sound Ian.

Ecca is right when he says that the guitar should be up front more - guitar up about 10% and backing down 10% and we should hear the 'tail-offs' of each note as they descend and echo into the backing blend. NOT a criticism; hopefully an observation that will let your gut instinct decide the final mix in future.

Just doing some fat toast in front of the fire at the moment contemplating my next sound offering!
