When you say nothing at all

Postby Phil McGarrick » 16 Nov 2009, 22:32

From Marvin at the Movies - Love this song the way Hank plays it - Hope I've done it justice.

There are some great songs from this album and the best thing is we all have access to Marvin Mastertracks so the BT is the real thing.
Hope to do a few more from this album.

Here is the YouTube link

Or if you want to watch it from YouTube in HQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxtDbnUEeM8

All comment welcome. Cheers Phil

Very nicely played Phil with just the right tone. Liked the camera work too.

What can I add to that.
Beautifully played, and a pleasure to listen to.

Thanks for posting. Ian :D

As Ian Stagetech rightly says - "a pleasure to listen to".
Smooth and with a great tone. All the Hank nuances, dips, bends etc as they should be AND (BONUS!!) Hank doesnt go off on one in the middle or at the end of this tune as he so often does in his solo stuff. ;)
Nifty camera work too - loved the mixing and fading in etc - all very Ecca De Mille!!
cheers

Many thanks Brian, Ian R and Ian P for your replies.
Marvin Mastertracks was a great idea which we all hoped would carry on through Hanks other CD, but never happened.
Still on the plus side - keeps the BT makers with plenty to do.
Ian you're right Hank kept this one simple not like La Bamba from the same album which I'm having a hard time with.

Hi Phil

I love that Ronan Keating song. An almost faultless rendition. My ears were especially sharp this morning; just a slight hesitation around 39 secs. in, but barely noticeable. Very well played. It is great that you have access to the HBM backing track. You certainly do it justice with your playing. I would like to be able to play half as well as you do.

Regards

Thanks Lynn, Len & Charles for your comments.
Much appreciated.

Len your absolutly right about the timing at 39 sec - It's one of those things you don't notice until after you've uploaded it and then play it back.
By then it's too late. I welcome constructive comments like this and glad your ears were sharp this morning.

I think my next one will be La Bamba except I'm having real trouble playing the ending cleanly at the speed Hank does it.
May have to cheat and use a cappo for the high run if I can't get it. Also I've got to learn the slide guitar for one section which I haven't done before.

Cheers Phil
