PEACE PIPE / WONDERFUL LAND (Experiment)

Postby geronimo7476 » 20 Nov 2009, 00:41

Hi all, Thanks for listening to my previous attempt at Wonderful Land using the eTAP2 Engineer. (It is available on the net)
I re-recorded WL with the same play like Hank BT, and also recorded Peace Pipe with the UBHank BT
This time both tunes were played through the Meazzi Echomatic2.
Please have a listen and give me some feed back, Pos or Neg. This will not only help me but others who are interested as well

Thanks very much

Hi Charles. The guitar sound is fine but yes the echo does need to be a little more prominent . The biggest problem to my ears is that on all 3 recordings your lead is far too dominant. Turn the echo up a little and the BT quite a bit. That will, I think, make a huge difference to the overall feel and atmosphere.

Cheers

Hi Charles
I have to say that the new WL floats my boat! Loved it! I know the original was a bit toppy but this has the tone without it. It would be hard to get that '57 Woodiness' on an 82, the pickups are quite different, but this is a pretty good try in my book.
Peace Pipe is a cracker - just right. Yes the middle of PP is a little brighter than the original but I guess its not a slavish copy so the whole deal works for me.
By the way - the end of PP is missing on the sound file - no A6 (fluffed or not!!) What happened?
cheers

Well I agree with both Al & Ian, sort of. I agree with Ian that WL was pretty darn good and to my ears the balance was ok. With PP I thought the BT could have been just a tad higher in the mix. The echo on both was pretty close. But on the whole a couple of very well played tracks. The end of both tracks is missing though.

Cheers
Brian.
PS. Did you get the PM I sent?

Thanks very much Al, Ian and Brian, Your comments are well received and much appreciated. I have reposted the same recordings but even though I extended the ending by 30 seconds on both tunes l see 4shared only just allowed me to make it and still chopped it a little!! I don't know the reason but I believe it's happening to others as well.
Thanks again for taking the time to help.

Cheers CC

Charles, very sweet indeed.

As i've mentioned before all the other echos should go to landfill. Farting about with tapes and valves and HT voltage. The world has evolved in the last 50 years.

Still if folk are daft enough to have an echo unit posted from Australia then they've more brass than sense and that goes for the other UK tape hardware stuff.

You must ask yourself regarding the 2 files above, what is the difference between what Charles has played and the myriad of tapes echos people buy and sling to one side when another hits the market. Tell you what--no different and it costs nothing !!!

Ask Piet for a free eTAP Engineer--they don't bite you know.
