I have in fact, purchased the cobs ready for Tuesday, they're in the freezer, the lady in the bread shop assured me they freeze OK.
They're black as coal, light , not dense, I can't wait.

If Ryan is going to the Hankies on Tuesday I will make the effort to come down and show him and talk him through it, but if not then I will pass on it and do it later, because my mate is working and it would mean driving down alone, which my missus thinks is a bad idea as I'm still not too well. Somebody let me know either way and I'll give it a shot. :)

Hi Dave

Just read your post about using the AC4/Etap/Catalin with the Strat to get close to that "sound"

I've got an AC4tvh thats ready to go now (I swapped out that awful attenuator for a VVR variable jobby) & I bought a Squire CV 50's on impulse more because the sunburst finish looked really nice, should arrive in a couple of days. As well as the Etap pedal (& my own version of the etap)

I presume your using the Echorec pedal to "warm" up the sound a touch ...is that correct, or are you using it for some other purpose ?

Must get down to one of these "Hankies" nights one of these days, I do love pork pies 8-)

Dick.

You presume incorrectly. I use the Catalinbread Echorec pedal because it's a damn good echo and it's silent.
I use the Etap at different times, never together.

Thanks dave

Only asked as I couldn't see the benefit in using 2 pedals at the same time.

Do I take it from your reply that the Etaps you have are not silent then ?

I have found that the Etap units are very fussy about the power supplies used, they work of course with any supply (of the correct type) but can be noisy with most commonly available power supplies.
I have what is basically a switching computer type power supply (rated at 2a dc) that I use & it's as silent as you could expect. I do use a filtered mains outlet though which will help.

My Etap sounds fantastic but is too noisy to use at the moment. I bought THE power supply that was recommended from Maplins, but if that is the cause of the noise then it's useless. If somebody does know of a good power supply that does the job, it would be good for them to post it here instead of keeping it a secret, otherwise my Etap won't be getting used. This should have been sorted first thing by the people that produce the kit. A noisy effects unit to me is about as much use as a one legged bloke at an arse kicking contest. By contrast my Catalinbread pedal is silent - with a much cheaper Maplins PS. 8-)

PS does anyone know if Hank used Mono, Analog or Ping Pong as his delay types, as this would at least give me a starting point, thanks again

Ryan, I believe for the Final Tour Hank used an Alesis Q20 with Charlie Hall's Echoes of the Past (EFTP) patches programmed into it. Later he switched to the TVS3. If you want to chase The Sound, those would be better than programming your own echoes. There is also the eTap mentioned above, which I gather is quite good too.

Good luck.

OK I'll do next Tuesday instead if you're definitely going. I want to go and see everyone anyway, but if I can fix you up with some help at the same time that's even better.
It' a 140 mile round trip so I don't want to waste the journey - let me know if you're going and I'll do my best to be there. :)
