A Taste of Honey (Video)

Postby Phil McGarrick » 06 Nov 2014, 17:25

This one is a cover of the 1st track from Hank's latest album "Hank"
A friend sent me his backing track which he commissioned a BT maker to make which just needed a rhythm guitar adding so I added it using my 1990's Gibson Dove acoustic fitted with an LR Baggs iBeam under saddle pickup as shown in the video.

Using my Alan Brason strat with Kinman FV-HMS pickups.
Alesis quadraverb Q2 Programmed with Charlie's Echoes from the past patch 1-66 (Abbey road reverb)
A small amount of distortion and sustain added during recording with a Carl Martin "Plexitone" & a Boss compressor sustainer CS-2.
Recorded with Cubase via PreSonus audiobox USB (No amp used)
Video made with 3x Sony SR12 camcorders and a smartphone for the Headstock view and edited in Sony Vegas pro 9.

I have made rough tabs which are on my website FREE to download. http://www.philmcgarrick.co.uk/scores.html
The BT owner has no objections to me passing on his BT so it's available here :- http://www.philmcgarrick.co.uk/CD.html
Hope you like "A Taste of Honey."

Cheers Phil

Hi Phil
Well - there you go!! Utterly, totally, comprehensively stunned!!
I knew you was good but this is simply jawdropping!
The right guitar with the right sound with the right Player and what do you get? - you get a 100% accurate Tribute performance.Simples!
The BT is amazing too.
Great video too - just watching those flying fingers in Hanks "ad-libs" is a real Treat.
Loved it.
cheers

Hi Ian, Franklin and Dave - Thank you very much for your replies and great comments which I appreciate very much.
I tabbed this one out several months ago and had it sellotaped to my computer desk while my son made a start on the backing track.
Then there was some talk that Hank may or may not release a BT CD for his new album. but this didn't happen. Meanwhile my son got distracted onto other things. So I was very pleased when a friend who commissioned this BT sent me a copy and all it needed was a rhythm guitar track added.
I've been experimenting with the video editing and watching the YT tutorials so had a bit of fun with that.

All the best.. Phil
