Wuthering Heights (Video)

Postby Phil McGarrick » 20 Nov 2014, 17:19

"Wuthering Heights" is a song by Kate Bush, released as her debut single in January 1978.
This is a guitar instrumental cover with my own arrangement using my Fender Custom Stratocaster 56nos with Kinman Impersonator 54 V3 Pickups for the main tune and my PRS custom 22 for the end solo.
The Backing track came from Karaoke Version here :-
http://www.karaoke-version.co.uk/custom ... ights.html
Useful backing track as for £1-99 you can download it as many times as you want with different instruments each time.

I found a good Free Tab of the solo on the internet here :-
http://www.ianbairnson.com/media/IanB%2 ... tsSolo.pdf

Recorded using Alesis quadraverb Q2 loaded with EFTP patch 0-36. For the PRS solo I used a Boss CS-2 Compressor turned up high and a Carl Martin plexitone with a small amount of drive.
Video made with 3x Sony SR12 camcorders and a smart phone and edited in Sony Vegas Pro 9.
Hope you like "Wuthering Heights"
Cheers Phil

Hi Phil
never a fan of Kate Bush - too avant garde for me - but as with all such things it DOES make a great Instro!
Now I can hear the odd timing in the "hook" and lots more of the "musicality" of the song than when she was "singing" it.
Lovely job - and that Outro cut into the video is a class touch. Great sound on both guitars. And the playing? As always - Top Drawer.
cheers

Thank you Fred you're very kind and your comments are much appreciated !

Hi Ian - My Wife isn't a fan of Kate Bush either says she sounds like a screeching cat - think I've driven her mad while I was learning the song - had to revert to my headphones. :(
Yes some weird timing and a bit hit and miss with what sliding notes she is singing.
Thank you for the nice comments.
Cheers Phil

I know just what you mean about capturing a vocal in instrumental form but you've done a good job here for sure.
