AT NO TIME DID I SAY I COULD DO IT BETTER -, MY INTENTION WAS TO HELP PEOPLE MATCH IT, PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT. No, you just suggested that the effort that was put into getting the sound they did was not worth it as you could EASILY do the same. That is belittling their effort.

I have no knowledge of your illness and, to be honest, to use it as mitigation for some of your comments is not worthy of you. REALLY ? CONSIDERING I LOST THE USE OF MY HANDS FOR OVER TWELVE MONTHS DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF CHEMOTHERAPY, I RECKON I HAVE MORE THAN A GOOD CASE. THEY ARE CURRENTLY 50% AND I'M BACK GIGGING AGAIN. Yes, really. Your private life is none of my business. Any side-effects you have suffered are regrettable and I would not wish them on my worst enemy but they still don't justify some of your comments.

Please be more respectful of other people's efforts and try not to make out that they are inferior to you all the time. I HAVE BEEN RESPECTFUL THROUGHOUT THIS DISCUSSION IF YOU CARE TO CHECK BACK, IT WAS I WHO INSISTED MORE PEOPLE TAKE NOTICE WHEN THE THREAD WAS OFF THE PAGE.
It has not been only this thread being referred to as I'm sure you realise.

I now expect this thread to be deleted because I have dared to contradict you. NO IT WON'T BE DELETED, I WANT FOLKS TO SEE YOU FOR THE IGNORANT PERSON THAT YOU ARE. I know that you are but what am I? At least I don't SHOUT responses.

Mr Downie - I don't need to defend Dave as he's well able to do so himself, but I cannot just sit here and ignore your abusive twaddle.
Have you nothing better to do than misinterpret postings and throw inane insults at all and sundry? Please desist.

Martyn, I have no argument with you and have no desire to either.

If you choose to believe that any criticism of Mr Robinson is abusive twaddle or inane insults then you are entitled to that interpretation. Who am I to argue against superior intellect, me being so ignorant? I would rather be ignorant than arrogant any day.

As this forum (unless the moderators decide that you can't debate certain subjects of course, even in The Lounge) is now no longer about The Shadows because, let's face it, regrettably The Shadows no longer exist as a musical entity, and really good sound files/videos are becoming few and far between, and, let's face it, there is nothing new to discuss, I will do myself a favour and leave the site. I will NOT admit to saying anything inaccurate though.

There are many people that I shall miss but I have to consider my blood pressure.

To the original poster, please accept my apology for what has happened here; your version of Wonderful Land was just that, wonderful.

To the members of The Dave Robinson Fan Club, you are welcome to him.

Have to agree a very creditable take on wonderful land, i think its great that the interest is still there with people, Bjorn who i have met a couple of times is a really nice guy and player, and credit must go to the moonriders who i listened to years ago, a favourite being lonesome moonride Bjorn.
It is a little dissapointing for the thread to have degenerated to such a level, for what its worth i dont see anything wrong with what Dave said, in fact he mentioned not once but twice how good the soundfile was, only merely commenting for those who dont have a longtom how he achieved similar with alternate gear, eq being the key to achieve ,with my wheel echomatic the core sound is there so much closer than anything i have heard / used before but to nail the recordings 100% you would need subtle tweaks of eq, no question about that.
Think people need to chill a bit and get back to the music
Phil.

hello Spike,

The sound is spot on, of course if you are listening to the original track of the shads, there is some difference.
On the original you can here more the meazzi sound, a bit sharper also i gess. (maybe the flat strings ?)
I have heard that Paul (TVS3) ia doing some modifications on he Long Tom echo, thats to improve in this case
the muted part of Wonderful land, in my opinion for the record.
Discussions are open of course, anyway well done for the whole band 8-) its a great sound :D

regards, tonio 8-)

Hi Jim, I just checked with Björn. He uses Fender CS 57/62 pickups on that Strat.
