Help me make it through the night....Binson Echorec.

Managed to get a new disc for my Echorec and get it working again......hope you enjoy this rendition of a classic country ballad.......

Based on the Willie Nelson arrangement...

gear used .....G&L USA Legacy, Joe Barden S-Deluxe Pickups, Binson Echorec, Matamp C7 Head, Focusrite Saffire Pro 24, iMac running Logic...

all recorded on the neck pickup, full volume, full tone.

The 'backing band' is all live in the studio by myself.

Thanks Dave....I thought the Echorec would be going up for sale in bits but I managed to get a working magnetic disc off a chap in Italy and that did the trick.......still prefer the Catalinbread though......easier to live with and much more versatile.

Good to hear the Bin in fine fettle. Spares must be becoming a nightmare these days.

Hi Ian....thanks for your kind comments.......very much appreciated.....your right about the Echorec.......spares are hard to get and ESE at Maidstone have stopped doing service work I think......and they were quite expensive......seems ok again and running quietly....through the amp that is....they can be a bit hissy.....a bit noisy mechanically when you switch on with the motor and whirring etc....

I'll probably stick with the Catalinbread pedal version though as it is fine and more versatile.....and fits in your pocket.....

With having worked on many echo units including Binson I can imagine your pleasure in getting it operational again.

Thanks Roger.......appreciated.......The Binson is addictive, sort of.......mixture of nostalgia and old school class I suppose....spec is quite limited on max delay etc as you will know....but the patterns are good and for most 'normal' lead parts it is sufficient....now that it is working again I am tempted to sell it on as it is worth a bit and I have a chap who keeps mithering me for it.....considering its value against how much I use it then selling it would fund other ideas.....

I nearly bought a Fulltone TTE Tube Echo off EBay yesterday.....now sold......single replay head job but very classy sound with its valves.....

Maybe an ESE Echomatic should be on my list if one comes up.....

Nicely restrained playing all round.
Really liked the stereo splits and on headphones it sounds extremely professional in terms of tone and balance/placement of instruments.
