Ocean Deep

Postby rogera » 24 Mar 2015, 21:17

I haven't posted a soundfile for a while now and after reminding myself of this Cliff ballad when trawling the internet, I decided to give it a try as an instrumental.

I used my Strat into an Alesis Q2 and then into a Fender Tremolux with a Shure SM57 picking up the signal.

Although I like overdrive/distortion on many famous tracks I've never got around to using it myself but it seemed to me that this tune needed some overdrive so for
for that I used a JOYO Vintage Overdrive pedal.

Thank you Lynn - as you said it's a super ballad (and Cliff made such a good job of it) and it's reassuring to hear that you think it converts well to an instrumental.

Lovely tune Rog.
Well played and pedalled.
Nice 'edge'.
I'll have to drag the caravan down to Exeter and come look at you one of these days.

Hi Roger
I play this often at home - never brave enough to play it Live or record it.
One of Cliffs finest IMO - "Silver" album - and I think he still sings it at concerts.
Superbly played,Roger - the OD suits a tune full of emotion and so fit perfectly as does the swell pedal.
And the "hanging ending" - CLASS!
Loved it to bits, Roger.

cheers
