MUSTANG DRIVE

Postby Stratpicker » 24 Mar 2015, 20:10

Here's one you probably haven't heard before.
I played this Live at Warwick on Sunday and it went OK.
The original of this tune can be heard, believe it or not, as library music in the “George Gently” TV series, played in a '60's “Shadows” style on a Strat. The guitarist was a french multi-instrumentalist called Christian Marsac.
However, MY arrangement is a complete turn around. My “What If - - ” process again. I felt that some of the phrases had a latin feel to them so I arranged it in a Gypsy Jazz Latin style.
I hope you think it worked out. No BT exists so I made one in BIAB.
Guitar is my Yammy APX3, not too good for this type of music, but its all I have.
Enjoy.

Hi Gary
Thanks for the kind words.
Yes - the strings are *Argentine " 11s from John Le Voi Guitars.
Think I'll go for 10s next time.
Nice strings.

I've watched the George Gently series and this little gem has passed me by !

A lovely number and your APX3 sounds very good and 'appropriate' to my ears.

Nice playing and I do like the latin influence.

Hi Roger
Its in a couple of the early GG series, purely as background library music. One is only a few seconds long and in the other (I never noticed the programme titles) is a good minute or so.
Thank you for your kind comments - I enjoyed playing this and making the BT too. Good Fun.
