Hi Guys,
Gary i sold the old tv ac30 a while back, reason being funding / hoping to buy the vox model 2 echomatic that surfaced years ago, but sadly this didnt come off,
Dave, I had hoped to be able to play Lakeside this year also but unfortunately Bob Watkins was not available, hopefully maybe next year, although i am pleased the Rapiers are playing though and we might go along to see them, I had a good chat with Colin tonight for about 3 hrs ! ( lol ) about the echomatic, its a pity Nathan has left but Lee Restarick is a really nice guy , and a great player and will make a good replacement.
Thanks for the words of support for the band, its appreciated , just want to play again,
best Phil.

I bet CPJ is chomping at the bit to see your Meazzi Phil. I tried that very setting on the eTap2hw tonight, all six heads on the model J with feedback from head six and it's amazing. It's a programme that I had seen in the instructions and never thought to try. I can't say it sounds as good as the real deal but it's damn good. Alan Jackson once told me that Hank used that setting a lot on stage. Thank you for your help, I now have an understanding of what's going on with those echoes and feedback. Piet Verbruggen has done an amazing job with this eTap2hw machine, I know it's a substitute but it's a good one being as there are none to buy. Thanks again Phil. :)

Hi Phil

What I understand You are the only owner of a drum Meazzi, or is it any more out there? Is it a possibility to see some pictures?

Hi Bertil,
There is a echomatic 2 that surfaced many years back that needed a full restoration , although now i think it is is nearing completion, the person who owns it is a nice guy and very knowledgeable on these rare echomatics called Alan Jackson, these two as far as i know at present are the only echomatics to surface in many years.
regards,
Phil.

Is that your Meazzi Phil or is it Alan's ? It was ten years ago that we talked about this at Shadowmania, do you remember?
It's frightening where the time had gone. :)

hi Dave,
No this is my echomatic 1, i think the early echomatic 1s were housed like this in wooden cases, my Model J has the lift up removeable lid, the model F had no lid but a metal access cover than could be removed if you needed to do any maintainence like changing the tape etc, I think i heard that Hank ran his model F with this cover off for easy access and better cooling, the six valves do generate quite a bit of heat, Alans echomatic 2 Vox echo is housed in a metal case , i did hear that the last model j machines also came in similar metal cases, but not sure if that is correct, my son James has a very early tape meazzi and that is in a similar wooden case like mine,
as you know most of the early tape meazzis like factotums , 304s, 306,s 316,s and Seps like i had were in metal cases, so it looks the earliest models were wooden cased.
As you can see the case is in an attractive two tone grey/ blue rexine finish, i think there were two or three colour variations to this as well, i was told the big black knob in the center would have been fitted by Jennings, originally it would have another matching white knob but these can be a bit fragile and would have suffered being used for the switch selector which has a bit of resistance.
Regards,
Phil.
