No Keith, it's not a valve model at all. It's just a regular eTap2hw. Mine was made by Pancho Diaz . . .

P.S. Thanks Pancho, I'm glad you like my sound file. :)

I must say again I am very impressed of your tone, Bojan. It really surprises me that you get this sound from the middle PU. I can clearly recognise the middle PU in the chord breaks (exept for one time, after the solo, where it sounds more like the bridge PU), but not in the verses. Did you record the chord breaks separate with another eq setting or did you play everything with the same setting?
Very interesting...

First of all may I apologise as I heard this a few days ago and thought I'd made a comment but looking back I can see I didn't.
It sounds great to me and I admire your feel in the playing. One thing stands out, you could have used a tad more echo level, but it sounds great anyway. I do this too, where you think there is enough echo and the end bit shows there isn't, then sometimes you over do the echo and spoil it, it's a fine line. The eTap sounds great.:)

Thanks guys . . . :)

Kurt, I used a heavy pick and really hit the strings hard when playing this, and I may have played them with more or less attack in some parts than in others, which could account for you hearing it slightly differently, but I definitely did the whole song with the middle pickup, without changing pickups. Another thing, I used old strings. I still have one set of Gibson L5 12 gauge strings . . . Unfortunately, they don't make them any more; the new ones are only up to 11 gauge . . .

Cheers,
Bojan

Yes Kurt, I hear it too. Right after the middle part the "raked" chords sound thinner . . . I have no explanation except, as I said, I may have played them differently, with less attack. Also, theoretically, it may be a segment left over from a previous "take", using the bridge pickup, which was not deleted properly . . . but I doubt that . . . Hmm. . . :?

That's a really nice vintage looking eTap2hw built by Pancho.

Yes it is . . . I wonder how the original compares to the newest generation of eTap2hw echo units!! I'm sure there is some improvement, but I'm also sure that Piet got it right from the very start!! 8-)

Bojan,
Just working with Pancho on newbuilds with improved triode behaviour. He mentioned your entry this morning !

I'm impressed by your performance! Agree on a tad more echo but with the halo upgrade you'll get that also.

Seems that my classic design holds-up to what is regarded the litmus tests. We know that exciting improvements on sounds are already there to bring it to a next level. Actually, Pancho is now adding most of Steve's retrofits as an integral part of a new build into his forthcoming machines. (Always nice to mention that to get all of Steve's retrofits in on the old classic board only , after this v2 build, requires additional 4 small capacitors as a real retrofit!)

Also a big thanks for your compliments! Although I did the groundwork in making an affortable device possible, the nice people I've worked with in the initial fase of that eTap2hw project called early adaptors are also debet on this as they acted as the quality and customer satisfaction department! Nowadays, the eTap2hw sage is extended into a very competent group of dedicated engineers and academics making my eTap2hw becoming a core product for real amazing developments surpassing what I could have achieved by (s)Miles! It only gets better!!!!!

It is great and a privilege to be part of this community of 'open source' , 'labour of love' and 'material cost only' !
