INTO THE LIGHT - 1992

Postby Stratpicker » 05 Jul 2015, 21:01

The "Into The Light" album of 1992 is one of my favourite Hank solo albums. I have always loved the title track and this is my interpretation of it.
Written by Brian and Warren Bennett and arranged by Warren, I believe, it really brought Hanks guitar sound forward into what we now call his “modern” sound, like it or not.
I've always been unsure what Hank was about in the bridge section - probably just having some 'fun' - and I've tried to capture the essence of it.
Brason Strat with Kinman FVs, Elixir 11s, into Boss CS-3 Compressor - Boss SD-1 OD pedal – Joyo ACTone simulator - Q2 EFTP Patch 30, straight to PC.
BT is new and is a Collab with Roger Paulsson, who I think has done a great job. It will probably be available to purchase on one of his CDs shortly.

I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Ian

I have to confess I didn't know this track but I have just ordered the album, great sounds, I actually really like Hanks distorted tone on some of these tracks especially oxygene and yours is just like it, loved it great backing aswell.

Hey Ian - not totally familiar with this album - but a great job all round of capturing the essence of the 90's Shadows era! A really great job with the tone of the lead guitars - and some wicked finger vibrato going on there too - not all whammy bar... You can tell you really got into the feel. The super compressed bass guitar sound and tight kit (almost no ambiance) are really indicative of their recordings in the 90's and these are done to perfection.

Love the bends again - all really spot on. Mix is good too - just enough harmony guitar in there to enhance the melody later on... I suck at that subtlety!!

Keep well matey,

Tony

Hi Tony - hope things good in SA. SOmething different from me! Lots of OD. Dunno if I got it right but it sounded OK. Great tune to get your teeth in to.
Hi Roger - Yes, it bops along nicely. The Kinman FVs suit this type of Hank tune perfectly.

That is first class, Ian. Really impressive.
For your next venture, any chance of Scirocco?

Hi Risky - good to see you still lurking. Get that guitar out, man!!!!
Hi Iain - yes I really enjoyed getting into this one. I'd love to play it Live at Warwick but might get into trouble with the volume.
I like most of this album but I think Scirroco is beyond me at the moment. I think I might have a Go at Pipeline though. Watch this space. :D
