Just a suggestion regarding the Sound Files and Video Clips section.

There appears to me that quite a lot of members of our community view the posts in

this, but very few respond with comments. I,for one am not blameless. The members who do comment

regularly seem to be a very specific few. These comments are always 100% positive

regarding being helpful and advising on sound etc. Thanks to them from me. :)

I can relate to the fact that not all of our Shadowmusic Community are comfortable

with posting comments.

So...My suggestion is:

How about some kind of grading system? For example, members can give a rating of Stars *?

(1*-2*-3*-4*-5*). Plus of course, comments if so desired, but not compulsory.

My hopes with this suggestion, would be to at least encourage more members in the Sound Files and Video Clips

section to respond to a particular file without having to comment regarding tone, pickups,

echo, sound balance, etc. as some of us on this site are not totally confident or experienced enough in these and more technical aspects.

Any other ideas along these lines?

Cheers...George.

I appreciate what you are saying, George, but I don't think that would be the way to go. Rating a soundfile with a star system would mean you are comparing members' tracks with each other. For example, giving member A's file five stars and member B's file 3 stars would be the same as saying member A's file is better than member B's.

Soundfiles should be judged, if at all, in isolation, not in comparison to other files posted.

I have to say that I am one of those who rarely comments on members soundfiles. If I do comment, it's because I think something is particularly good. If I do listen to a file and don't think it is very good, I say nothing because I don't want to discourage someone who is trying their best.
