Atlantis Live: 2 takes

Postby abel » 03 Jan 2016, 23:45

Hi all,

As promised earlier on my general message, I tried 2 takes of Atlantis Live (with 2 different Strymon settings) with my new Strymon Clean Boost / Optical Compressor.
I am using only the Strymon and the MagicStomp (with the Atlantis echo set much lower than the patch) through my Fender Hot Rod Deville 4 X 10 with the treble set a little past noon and the Mid and Bass Off.
The guitar is the 2013 Mexican Strat I won a few months ago in a drawing at Joe's.

It's not even close to the beautiful version of Paul Rossiter but I thought it wasn't too bad for a live sound.

I had the same Echo and EQ settings for the whole song, hence the much thinner sound of the Intro / Outro (I had to use my old technique
from the 1960's when I didn't have an echo machine and emulated the echo taps by doubling the note with the pick).
There is no cable connection or mixer between my Q3HD camera and the amp, the sound you hear is airborne.
Even the backing track (the Shadows of course) is played live behind me from my CD player with the P.A.
i am very surprised that there was no clipping given the very loud sound in the small room.

Unfortunately, the Compressor in the Strymon is not a real one and only gives the flavor of compression, it doesn't tighten up the sound
enough, hence the dirty sound even though I set the echo pretty low to get a clearer sound.
However, some of you would be more able to tweak the unit to get a closer sound.

Hope you will like it though.
