Hi All. Forgive me if this goes wrong. In spite of being a member for years I've never posted before. Some of you will remember my cousin John Higgs who left us last year after a fight with Leukemia. John and I shared a mutual love of all things instrumental and for years regularly attended Shadowmania together. Our main difference was that he played and I talked about it. At 65 I had a hip replacement and took up the guitar, God knows why, I don't think it's recommended Therapy for recovery from that op!! John encouraged me no end, happily listening to such dire renditions that I felt compelled to email him, offering constructive criticism and helpful tips. We had a number of sessions in my loft with my cheap and cheerful Squier Strat. and his Japanese Fender and were looking forward to more until fate took a hand. 5 years on I'm still deriving immense pleasure from my "axe" as John always called it. Can I play it? Naaah but I don't care!!

I used to look around for different tunes which might make interesting Instrumentals. I sent John a BT for "In Love With You" as one such example and he sent me back a completed version in September 2012. A month later I sent him back a modified recording with an additional lead guitar as a "duet" in the delusion that I could play! We intended to redo this at a later date.
I just felt a need to put something of John's up here:-
1) I don't think he every posted any of his few recordings on the site
2) because I don't know of any other version (although I'm sure there is somewhere)
3) it reminds me of his encouragement which has enabled me to get a whole new enjoyment out of Instrumentals even late in life
This recording is offered in his memory

Hi Rodney
This is a beautiful tune - I play it myself.
Its played with great feeling and phrasing. I know you have squashed it to below 1mb to get it on here, but these days you can host it on a free site like Box.net and let us all hear it with full depth.
Thanks for putting it up.

Hi Rodger,

I know the quality of the recording leaves a bit to be desired, but that's a beautiful tune, and I can tell it's played, or should I say well played, with the right amount of feeling and sensitivity. Thanks for posting it.

I feel like i know the tune but I can't pin it down. Where's it from?

Regards,

Len

Hi Ian. Thanks for your comments. Been a long time since I've shared files but I've blown the dust of my old Dropbox and put the 320 version up there. Hope that works. It'll show the defects up nicely! Thank the Lord for Audacity!!

Len, it's a song by Dana Winner, a Belgian singer, popular on the continent and South Africa.
