Herman's Hermits was a British rock band from the 1960s. Trained in Manchester, England, in 1963, the group was in line with the British Beat movement, which began with the Beatles' early career. Popular in the United Kingdom, and especially in the United States, in the mid-1960s, with albums and many singles in the charts, they were corrupted by the rise of the hippie wave, pop and Of psychedelic rock.

Song was written by Graham Gouldman, a gifted and prolific songwriter whose compositions included For Your Love and Evil-Hearted You by the Yardbirds, Bus Stop and Look Through Any Window by the Hollies, and Pamela Pamela by Wayne Fontana. And all that was before all those other songs he wrote and co-wrote for 10cc.
