EXCELLENT!! Really good copy of the track!! Spot on!!
SOunds like you have to "attack" the strings to get some of 'that sound' but what ARE the Custom Settings on your Korg Ampworks. Have you set up a special program for it?
cheers
Ian
Thanks Ian. I'm not quite satisfied yet. I'm tweaking the psp608 Delay EQ settings to get a more realistic Meazzi Echomatic sound. I think the EQ has to be turned up a bit . . . When I foind the right sound I'll update this soundfile.
As a matter of fact, I did not attack the strings very much at all. Just a little bit. I think that the most important thing is to get the dry sound right. For that I go through the Ampworks and into my Zoom 508, which is set to bypass mode and acts only to boost the signal because I do not go into an amp but directly into the Line In on my PC sound card.
Once I made the dry recording, I add to that a wonderful little plugin called psp Vintage Warmer, which adds tube warmth and some compression to the dry signal. Sometimes I also use Cakewalks own Parametric equalizer to add some more mids . . . and that is the dry signal to which I apply the echo plugin. Then I "bounce" that to a new track and create the wet track to which I add three more plugins: Wow & Flutter, Imperfection for dirt and noise, and reverb. The final sound is a balance between the dry and the wet tracks . . . and that's it.
As for the Ampworks, I have created a special program for the Strat and a special program for the Apache.
The "Strat program" is based on the AC15 + 1x 112Vox cabinet with the mid setting turned up all the way and the treble and bass turned down to about 8:30 or 9:00 . . . The gain is turned down to about 9:30 or 10:00 and the volume is turned up all the way. Nothing else.
Perhaps it would be simpler just to cash out a couple of thousand bucks and buy an AC15 Heritage and a TVS3 . . . but that would be too easy (and expensive) . . . this way is more interesting (and cheaper).
