Yes Stuart, Peter has explained it very well and it is exactly the way I did my programmes. I too tried the Multitap function and quickly saw that the patterns weren't going to do what was needed. Bear in mind that 99% of the feedback on Shadows tracks is from head 4. If you need the timings I do have them if you want to PM me, but I think that Peter covered it. Don't forget that the Wonderful Land pattern (all four heads on with 1-2-3- lower than the fourth in level), is used for Kon Tiki, The Savage, Dance On, TFYL, Atlantis, Shindig,Peace Pipe and a load more, all with slightly different head levels and regen (feedback).
I have the Hall & Collins too and though it is excellent and fast to use in a live situation I believe that the Zoom G3x is difficult to tell apart when programmed correctly. That said I am back using the ESE Echomatic now and that came about through considering selling it but I found out just in time. I'm pleased you are able to move forward and will surely get some good results with your Zoom G3.
